By downloading, installing, or using the AreUAlive mobile application ("App") or accessing our website, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
AreUAlive is operated by StaySafe Technologies ("we", "us", "our"). These Terms govern your access to and use of the App and any related services.
AreUAlive is a personal safety check-in application that allows users to set countdown timers. If a user does not check in (by tapping "I'M ALIVE") before the timer expires, the App will automatically notify the user's pre-configured emergency contacts through various communication channels including push notifications, SMS, WhatsApp, voice calls, and email.
Important: AreUAlive is NOT a replacement for emergency services. In life-threatening situations, always contact your local emergency services (e.g., 911, 112, 999) first. The App is designed to supplement, not replace, professional emergency response systems.
You must be at least 13 years of age to use the App. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement. Users under 18 should use the App with parental or guardian consent.
To use the App, you must create an account by providing accurate and complete information, including:
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
The Free plan includes basic safety features with push notification alerts via the ntfy service. Free users can set check-in timers and add emergency contacts.
The Pro plan unlocks all features including SMS alerts, WhatsApp alerts, voice call alerts, email alerts, location sharing, voice recording, and shake detection. Pro subscriptions are available at the following pricing tiers:
All payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Limited ("Paddle"), who acts as our Merchant of Record. Paddle handles all billing, payment processing, tax collection, currency conversion, invoicing, and compliance on our behalf. By subscribing, you also agree to Paddle's Terms of Use and Paddle's Privacy Policy.
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date. You will be charged the applicable subscription fee at the beginning of each new billing period.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through the App's Settings screen. Upon cancellation:
Refund requests for exceptional circumstances may be directed to Paddle's support, as they are the Merchant of Record for all transactions.

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. By using the App, you consent to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:
The reliability of alert delivery depends on third-party services (Twilio, ntfy, internet service providers, mobile carriers) which are outside our control.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, STAYSAFE TECHNOLOGIES AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF LIFE, PERSONAL INJURY, OR PROPERTY DAMAGE ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP.
Our total liability for any claims arising from or related to the App shall not exceed the total amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless StaySafe Technologies from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party rights.
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct that we determine to be harmful to other users or the App. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately.
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or via email. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in the Netherlands.
